Director Michael Moore's contentious divorce set to go to trial

Dallas residents who are seeking to end their marriage may be interested in one Hollywood director's legal issues. After a 23-year marriage, Michael Moore and his wife, Kathleen Glynn, have entered a divorce after reported dispute regarding the use of marital funds.

A trial is set for July in Michigan. Their joint assets reportedly reach values in the millions that include multiple homes, one of which is a primary issue in the trial. Moore claims that his wife built a vacation house for $2 million on Torch Lake in Michigan. This extravagant home, Moore says, was both a waste of the couple's money and caused damage to the director's reputation as a champion of liberal causes.

Reports indicate that Moore is bringing two of his agents to the trial as witnesses on his behalf. The two men, one his literary agent and the other the head of William Morris Endeavor, will testify about Moore's income and reputation in the media. They will also demonstrate how Moore was hurt by the building of the $2 million Michigan home. Also in evidence are media articles supposedly mocking Moore over the home issue. The couple is fighting over other matters, as well, including eight other pieces of property and the wife's quilt collection.

In a high-asset divorce like this, there are many complex issues related to property division and numerous other matters. An attorney may be able to help explain the lengthy process and examine the couple's assets to determine what a fair division would look like. The attorney may then be able to represent the spouse at trial or during settlement negotiations.
