New app developed for child support

Texas parents who have child support orders in place may still experience confusion with these orders. Because they provide a basis for a generic situation, they often do not incorporate specific details that are related to the former couple's actual situation. Often, parents create a system of debits and credits in which one parent pays for an expense and then expects compensation from the other parent. A new child support app was created to tackle this problem and provide more transparency.

The app was created by a businesswoman who wanted to infuse business and accounting principles into the family dynamic. It is available on both iOS and Android devices and is meant to serve as a family money management tool. It allows users to scan in receipts for purchases and expenses related to their children that are then shared with the other parent. This helps to provide confidence to paying parents that the funds are being used for the benefit of the child.

Another problem that it solves is the struggle to pay for medical expenses when one parent may be abusing the situation by going to out-of-network doctors to arbitrarily increase the cost of medical expenses. The app includes a pre-approval system that triggers a review by the paying parent after expenses reach a certain point. Users can also utilize the app for other purposes. For example, individuals can use the receipt retention app if they are helping to split expenses for an elderly parent or are renovating a home. The app is particularly helpful at tax time for individuals who are paying tax-deductible alimony.

Individuals who have a court order for child support may choose to consult with a family law attorney if they are not certain if they are receiving everything to which they are entitled. The attorney may be able to review information to see if the order is being complied with.
