Divorce between sitcom actress and husband finalized

Couples in Dallas who follow celebrity news may be aware of the divorce of Kaley Cuoco, well known for her role in the popular show The Big Bang Theory, and her husband, a reportedly retired tennis player. The pair's divorce was finalized after negotiations on May 6, 2016.

The couple was married for almost two years and had spent nine months prior negotiating their divorce settlement, including determining how their prenuptial agreement factored in. Given Ms. Cuoco's status as a television star, she is expected to pay her former spouse two separate installments of $165,000. According to the prenup, however, Ms. Cuoco will not be required to pay for any additional spousal support after that.

Ms. Cuoco is also set to pay her ex-husband's legal fees of up to $55,000. She is also expected to pay for another outstanding bill that her ex owes for legal costs of close to $10,000. In total, she is set to pay her former spouse nearly a quarter of a million dollars in order to end their union.

Family law can be very complex, and numerous issues such as finances and personal property often come to the forefront; the case of Ms. Cuoco and her former spouse serves as an example of how these cases are settled. Whether it is a divorce with significant assets or not, having legal help in addressing divorce matters is a key factor in ensuring that a divorce runs smoothly. A lawyer can help ensure that a prenuptial agreement is followed accordingly and that their client's interests are protected.
