Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck seek amicable divorce

Texas child custody disputes can become pretty stressful, especially if the parents cannot work together. However, as actress Jennifer Garner and actor Ben Affleck show, not all divorces have to become battles.

The two revealed on April 13 that they were officially filing for divorce. They both filed "in pro persona", meaning that they intend to represent themselves during the divorce. This unusual move shows that the former couple intends to go through the divorce without lawyers and that the divorce is amicable. However, this move also allows the former couple may also be able to keep their divorce agreement private.

A family law attorney did note that not citing a lawyer in the documents does not mean that they are coming to a divorce agreement on their own. In fact, the two may have taken so long between separating and filing for divorce in order to get all of their assets in order. Due to the fact that they left their separation date blank, it was suggested that they may already have come to some sort of agreement behind the scenes.

Although disputes can quickly arise when a former couple is going through a complex divorce in Texas, there are still ways that the former couple can work together. Mediation is certainly an option. During this process, the former couple works together to come to a divorce agreement that that they feel is fair. In the event that the former couple cannot come to an agreement, they can work with family law attorneys to help them divide up property and other assets that they obtained during their marriage.
