In Texas, when a couple chooses to end a marriage, there will be an endless number of issues that have to be hashed out. This is especially true if it is a high asset divorce. These types of divorces are common with wealthy people in the state and all over the world. Often, it happens with those in the entertainment industry, as recently occurred with actor Gary Oldman and his fourth wife Alexandra Edenborough.
According to the settlement, Mr. Oldman will pay $3.3 million to his singer wife. He will keep two homes as well as several automobiles. In addition, there were entertainment projects that the couple worked on and they will both have rights to them. They married on Dec. 31, 2008 and separated in the middle of 2014. Ms. Edenborough filed for divorce in January of 2015.
Mr. Oldman and his now ex-wife were married for six years. The actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work in the film “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” and has also appeared in numerous films including “JFK” and the recent “Batman” trilogy, had previously been married to actress Uma Thurman.
Regardless of their net worth, people who are facing the end of a marriage have a variety of divorce legal issues that they will have to confront. The division of marital property is often a key one, with questions as to whether a particular asset should be deemed community property and thus subject to split as opposed to separately owned. A family law attorney can often provide insight on these and other pertinent matters to a divorcing spouse.
